The 8th International Colloquium on Historical Earthquakes, Plaeo- Macroseismology and Seismotectonics, will be held in Lixouri, Kefalonia.
Kefalonia airport is located just outside Argostoli. There are public buses (KTEL) leaving from the airport every hour to Argostoli. Then you have to use the local ferry to arrive to Lixouri.
There are daily flights to and from the airport “El. Venizelos” of Athens, while the duration of the trip is about an hour. Through the airport of Kefalonia there is also access to the island from abroad, with charter flights. There are regular services to Kefalonia by:

As an alternative, you can take a ferry to Kefalonia at the ports of Kyllini and Patras.
- Kyllini – Kefalonia: The ferry route from Kyllini to Kefalonia arrives at the port of Poros and it is available year-round. The journey duration is 1.5 hours and it’s the fastest way to get to Kefalonia by ferry. By car, the Port of Poros is aprox. 26 km from Argostoli.
- Patras – Kefalonia: Ferries from Patras to Kefalonia arrive at the port of Sami and the route is usually active every day in the summer. It takes 1.5 hours to reach Kefalonia from the port of Patras. By car, the Port of Sami is aprox 26 km from Argostoli.
You can drive or use a public bus (KTEL) from Athens to the 2 ports. From the airport “El. Venizelos” of Athens you can use the public bus to get to KTEL Kifisou.
- Astakos – Kefalonia: If you are traveling by car another alternative is to drive to Astakos and use a ferry to get to the port of Sami in Kefalonia Island. Once you arrive at the port of Sami, Lixouri is just 40km by car.
